Awesome couple – awesome shoot! Last night I had the privilege of doing Anu and D’Arcy’s maternity photographs… oh man, if everyone had that much personality I couldn’t keep up! You two were awesome – I LOVE you guys… but then again, I’m pretty much a Singh myself Sean Philips joined us to capture the video, which I can’t wait to see.. so many goodies to share,,, but here are just a few!

Jennifer and Chad’s Wedding! {Wedding Photography in Winnipeg}

Jennifer and Chad’s wedding started off a little wet and rainy… and then pretty much stayed that way all day… but that didn’t seem to dampen the mood a bit – in fact, Jen, Chad and their friends were an absolute blast and I couldn’t imagine having a more fun group to photograph – you guys were awesome!

The ceremony was at St.Ignatius and was as classic as ever, the reception at Hotel Fort Gary with Danny Kramer Band doing the music that night. But my favourite part of the day was definitely doing the pictures out in the drizzling rain and having a blast playing football while trying to stay dry!

The Story:
Kulvir moved to Calgary from Winnipeg in November 2008 with a childhood friend to add some adventure to her life. A few short months later, Bal made an impromptu, last minute decision to make a stopover in Calgary for a few days on the way back to BC from a trip with his employer at the time. Kulvir was shopping (as usual) and Bal saw her across the shopping center. He came up to her, flashed his famous dimple smile, and asked for her number. At first she gave him a bit of a hard time but eventually, being unlike herself, she gave it to him. They spoke daily over the phone and on-line, and saw each other monthly until they decided that it would be best to see if the relationship would do just as well if they were actually living in the same city. In October, Bal moved to Calgary and began working. It didn’t take long to realize that they couldn’t picture themselves with another. Their engagement ceremony was held in Surrey, BC on July 31, 2010.

Kim + Everett’s 5th Year Anniversary Shoot {Anniversary Photoshoot Winnipeg}

I’ve known Kim and Everett for years and years, in fact, Kim used to work for me at the studio on her way through university and was the most meticulous and reliable person I have ever met. No surprise she now has a fabulous career as an engineer. Anyways, it was 5 years ago that I photographed their wedding and last night we went out and did an anniversary shoot to mark the 5 years – wow that went fast! Amber, their dog, made me laugh, as most dogs do. Right after we took the very first picture, she came running up to Everett and jumped up with muddy paws onto his nice clean shirt

Sean + Natalia Married! {Winnipeg Wedding Photographer}

Crazy bad weather this weekend but it didn’t bother Sean and Natalia a bit as we did their wedding pictures outside, inside, in the rain and under trees to keep dry… and in the end the pix turned out amazing. Of course, after their engagement session a few months ago in the SAME weather conditions, this shouldn’t have come as any surprise! Oh well, the day came together, everyone stayed dry (mmm?) and they had an awesome party at Oui Bistro (very possibly the BEST wedding dinner EVER!) Loved the venue and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quaint and elegant venue with a European feel.

Melissa Jean – {Best Kenora Artist}

Awesome photoshoot with Melissa Jean, my fave artist in the world. Her paintings could be described as optimistic, treesy and earth hugging – a unique style all her own. Last year she had her first artshow and sold out … stay tuned for her upcoming artshow in one of Winnipeg’s leading art galleries this fall – she just keeps getting better! I bought a large painting for my house last year and we absolutely LOVE IT so if you’re looking for art for your home, you’ve got to checkout her site at Melissa Jean.

Kulvir + Bal’s Engagement Pictures in Vancouver BC! {East Indian Wedding Photography} Day 2

By some miracle Kulvir and Bal were able to get dressed up for another photo shoot the next day after their party and look like they hadn’t been celebrating at all. Indian brides and grooms have supernatural stamina and so after a quick trip to McDonald’s, we headed off exploring.
Because we were already in Surrey for the party, we decided to hit Vancouver for our engagement pictures… SFU, Kitsilano, Gastown all made amazing backdrops – LOVE how beautiful this city is and how much variety there is within just a few minute drive – from mountains to oceans and sunshine, yup sunshine!

Thanks Kulvir and Bal for letting me be part of your celebration. I had an amazing time and wish all wedding engagements were as awesome as yours!!!
I hope you love your pictures as much as I enjoyed shooting them!

Kulvir and Bal’s Engagement Party! {East Indian Wedding Engagement Surrey BC} Day 1

This last weekend I had the privilege of photographing Kulvir and Bal’s engagement party in Surrey BC and had an amazing time. Everyone in the families were so hospitable, always making sure I was well fed. Thanks moms!! Kulvir looked amazing and thanks to her uncle and aunt in Abbotsford for an amazing house to get ready in. If anyone is looking to get their hair done for an East Indian wedding in Abbotsford or Surrey areas of BC – definitely ask Kulvir for her number! Before the ceremony started, we had some time to hit the local park for some pictures and a quick stop at Bal’s old watering hole before the festivities began. Here’s a peek into Day 1 of the fun!

Raman + Sunny Day 5 {East Indian Wedding Photographer Winnipeg}

Just finished Raman and Sunny’s 5 day wedding celebration. For those who have never been to an East Indian Wedding, they’re of other world proportions… partying and crown royal, bling, singing and dancing, and more bling – amazing!! I had just finished Raman and Sunny’s engagement photographs a few months ago and was really looking forward to their wedding and believe me, it was worth the wait. It’s amazing when most couples pull off a 1 day event, but they did it for 5 days straight!

Best way to show some highlight pix is to break it up over a few posts… besides, I’m going out of town for a few days and its past my bedtime so tonight I’ll keep it short. Normally I’d start at the beginning of the wedding, but the reception detail looked so amazing in the Delta Hotel in Winnipeg, decorated by Emma Singh, so let’s start there… kinda like starting with the dessert!

Events by Emma created this most spectacular reception venue... now this doesn't look like we're in Winnipeg - nice job Emma!
